Question : Washim-Badnera Rail Route

(a) whether the Government proposes to improve the means of connectivity and provide facilities to the farmers in the extremely backward Washim district, which is notoriously known as the ‘Cremation Ground’ of the farmers in terms of cultivation, in Wanhad (Berar) province in Central India;

(b) if so, the time by which the Government is likely to undertake the works of Washim-Badnera rail route;

(c) whether the survey for the same was approved in the year 2015 but it has not been completed till 2020;

(d) if so, the reasons for the delay in completion of the said work; and

(e) the time by which the said work is likely to be started and Washim district and erstwhile Marathwada district will be connected?

(a): Washim is already connected on Railway network. Washim Station is situated on Akola-Purna Railway Line.

(b) and (c): Survey for Narkhed-Washim (Badnera-Washim) was sanctioned in the year 2016-17. Field Survey work has been completed.

(d) and (e): Do not arise, as the project is not sanctioned.
