Question : Phases of National Digital Communication Policy

(a) the phases in which the objectives of the National Digital Communication Policy (NDCP) are being implemented nation-wide;

(b) the status of the progress of the various phases of the NDCP and the state-wise details thereof;

(c) whether targeted efforts are also being focused in the state of Rajasthan and if so, the details thereof;

(d) the details of the district-wise progress report of the NDCP in the state of Rajasthan; and

(e) whether the Government intends to launch a follow-up policy with the completion of the NDCP in the year 2022 and if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (b) The National Digital Communications Policy-2018 (NDCP-2018) was launched by the Government of India in the year 2018 with a vision to fulfill the information and communication needs of citizens and enterprises through the establishment of a ubiquitous, resilient, secure, accessible and affordable Digital Communications Infrastructure. The implementation of the objectives of the policy has not been divided into phases.

(c) to (d) The policy envisages developing a robust digital communications infrastructure throughout the country, including all the districts of the state of Rajasthan. As per the information provided by the Telecom Service Providers and the field units of the Department of Telecommunications, district-wise status of progress of mobile coverage in the state of Rajasthan is placed at Annexure.

(e) As of now, the Government has not thought of launching a follow-up policy.
