Question : Integrated Laboratories-Centres

Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government proposes to upgrade integrated lab/centres on generic diseases in different States including Gujarat;

(b) if so, the details thereof including the places earmarked/proposed for setting up such new Laboratories/centres;

(c) the characteristic and features of the such proposed centres; and

(d) the fund allocated for the same?

(a) to (d): No disease has been classified as generic disease as such. However, as part of strengthening of laboratory network, Government of India has approved a proposal for “Establishment of 30 branches (including 8 existing branches) of NCDC in all States and one UT of India” on 24.04.2015 for a total outlay of Rs.367.60 crore to be implemented in phased manner as per availability of land and funds. One of these branches will be established in Gujarat. All State Governments through Director of Health Services of each State have been requested to provide approximate 2-3 acres of land free of cost for setting up of NCDC branch. Allocation of land/ suitable building to establish NCDC branch is awaited from Government of Gujarat.
