Question : DEVELOPMENT PACKAGE FOR ANDHRA PRADESH



(a) whether the Sivaramakrishnan Committee has envisioned a development package of Rs. 4.5 lakh crores to make Andhra Pradesh a primary economic hub on the Eastern side;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Andhra Pradesh Government has also requested the Union Government to approve a Special Development Package as assured in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act and if so, the details thereof;

(d) whether the Government has approved the said package and if so, the details and the progress made so far in the implementation of the same; and

(e) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) & (b): The Sivaramakrishnan Committee was constituted for recommending the location of the new Capital of the successor State of Andhra Pradesh. The Committee in its report has enclosed one of the supporting documents which mentions about an indicative cost of Rs. 4,49,505 crore for economic development of Andhra Pradesh.

(c) to (e): Yes, Madam. There are various provisions in the Andhra Pradesh Re-organisation Act, 2014 for creating special infrastructure in the successor State of Andhra Pradesh implementation of which is being closely monitored by the Government of India.
