Question : Recruitment of Minorities

(a) whether there is a decline in percentage of recruitment of minorities in the Central Ministries during 2015-16;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor;

(c) whether the Government has asked all Central Ministries to give data on recruitment of minorities during 2015-16 as part of review of the Prime Minister''s new 15-Point Programme for the welfare of minorities and if so, the details thereof; and

(d) the steps taken by the Government to give due percentage of recruitment of minority communities in Central Ministries?

(a) to (d): The Department of Personnel & Training has been collecting annual data on recruitment of minority communities since 2006-2007.
Accordingly, this year also the Central Ministries/ Departments have been requested in April 2016 to furnish the annual data for 2015-2016.
However, no segregated data on recruitment is collected religion-wise.
As per data received for the year 2013-14, 7.89% of minorities were recruited. As per data received for the year 2014-15, 8.56% of minorities have been recruited in Government Services.
