(a) whether some States/Union Territories do not extend the benefits to
solar water heaters which are given to other solar installations;
(b) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor; and
(c) the steps being taken by the Union Government in this regard?

(a) and (b): The subsidy for Solar Water Heating Systems under ‘Off-grid and Decentralised Solar Thermal Application Scheme under National Solar Mission was discontinued with effect from 1st October, 2014. However, all Channel Partners as well State Nodal Agencies(SNA) are free to continue supply of solar water heating systems at their end without subsidy from Ministry. of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE). The market for solar water heaters has expanded and the product is economically viable now as reported by the Solar heater manufactures.
(c): The MNRE continues to support solar water heaters through publicity, technical support, testing and certification of product through accredited labs, and appointing channel partners after rating by Credit Rating Agencies so that the customer get quality product.
