(a) whether ‘Hand in Hand 2016’, the Indo-China joint military training exercise that began in Pune recently acquainted both the armies with their respective operating procedures during counter-terrorism operations;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the steps being taken by the Government to organize more such exercises with other countries also to make familiar and update the training skills with each country?

(a) to (c): Exercise HAND-IN-HAND 2016 held with China recently in Pune was a joint exercise under the theme of Counter-terrorism operations specifically under UN mandate. The exercise was aimed at confidence building measures to showcase perspectives of both Armies. Joint Exercises are also held with several other countries to update training skills and enhance defence cooperation.
