Question : SHARE OF AGRICULTURE SECTOR IN DOMESTIC PRODUCTION



(a) whether the share of the agriculture sector in the overall domestic production is declining continuously since the last three years and the current year;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the per capita availability of grains an pulses has also decreased continuously during the said period;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) the estimated quantum of annual production of rice, wheat and pulses required to meet the demand of the country, crop-wise?

(a) & (b): Yes, Madam. The share of agriculture and allied sector to Gross Domestic Product is declining over the last three years including the current year at 2004-05 prices. The share of agriculture and allied sector to GDP during last three years is as under:

As per the data above, per capita net availability of pulses and foodgrains per day in the country is fluctuating during the said period.
