Question : National Workshop on Autism Tools

(a)whether the National Work on Autism Tools (International Clinical Epidemiology Network (INCLEN) and India Scale of Assessment of Autism (ISAA) was organized by the Government with the aim to train and empower health care professionals like paediatricians, psychologists and psychiatrists to be trained as Master Trainers and if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether the Government has identified the required number of professionals including Master trainees and trainees in the country;
(c) if so, the details thereof, State wise;
(d) whether the Government has taken any measures to train the professionals and create placement for them in the country to cater to needs of autistic person; and
(e) if so, the details thereof and the response of the Government in this regard?

(a) Yes, Madam. The National Trust for the Welfare of Persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities, in collaboration with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, organized a National Workshop on Autism Tools- International Clinical Epidemiology Network (INCLEN) and Indian Scale of Assessment of Autism (ISAA) from 6th to 8th April, 2018 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The aim of the workshop was to train and empower health care professionals like paediatricians, psychologists and psychiatrists as master trainers. The objective of this workshop was to make doctors aware about autism tools to describe the diagnostic criteria as well as to clinically evaluate a child with suspected autism spectrum disorder using autism tools. In addition, the National Trust in collaboration with AIIMS, Delhi, has organized four National Workshops for training of master trainers in autism tools for paediatricians, psychiatrists and clinical psychologists in which over 330 doctors from different parts of the country were trained.
(b) to (e): No, Madam. The training programme on autism was for paediatrician, psychologists and psychiatrists of Government Hospitals of the country.
