Question : Facilities for Women and Children

(a) whether the Government has provided adequate facilities including financial and infrastructure and implementing schemes for women and children suffering from various social security and health/age related health problems and if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether the Government has maintained any registry to record women and child related problem in the country and if so, the details thereof;
(c) the measures taken by the Government to provide medical care facilities for socially and economically poor women and children suffering without any support from other family members; and
(d) the funds provided to various States/ UTs for the same during the last three years and the current year, State/UT-wise?

(a) to (d): The Ministry of Women and Child Development is implementing a number of schemes for the welfare and development of women and children across the country. The Schemes are as follows:
i. Swadhar and Short Stay Homes to provide relief and rehabilitation to destitute women and women in distress;
ii. Support to Training and Employment Programme for Women (STEP) to ensure sustainable employment and income generation for marginalized and asset-less rural and urban poor women across the country;
iii. Rastriya Mahila Kosh (RMK) to extend micro-finance services to bring about socio-economic upliftment of poor women;
iv. National Mission for Empowerment of Women (NMEW) to strengthen the overall processes that promote all round development of Women;
v. Rajiv Gandhi Scheme for Empowerment of Adolescent Girls-Sabla for all-round development of adolescent girls of 11-18 years by making them self-reliant by facilitating access to learning, health and nutrition;
vi. Matritva Sahayog Yojana (IGMSY) has been contributing towards better enabling environment by providing cash incentives for improved health and nutrition to pregnant and nursing mothers;
vii. Schemes of One Stop Centre and Universalisation of Women Helpline are being implemented to provide integrated support and assistance to women affected by violence;
viii. Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Scheme;
ix. Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS)

The details of the schemes and the number of women and children benefitted under these schemes alongwith the details of funds sanctioned and released to the States/UTs during the last three years are available in the Annual Report of the Ministry for the respective years viz., 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16 which are available in the Library of the Lok Sabha Secretariat.
