Question : Plastic Parks

(a) the number of plastic parks and plastic manufacturers in the country, State/UT-wise;
(b) whether the Government proposes to set up plastic parks in the State of Maharashtra, if so, the details thereof along with funds proposed to be allocated for this purpose;
(c) whether mechanisms are put in place to ensure the parks do not pollute the surrounding areas, if so, the details thereof; and
(d) whether any incentive is provided for plastic reprocessing in these parks and if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) So far, Nine Plastic Parks have been approved in the States of Assam, Madhya Pradesh (two Plastic Parks), Odisha, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand Chhattisgarh and Karnataka and are currently in various stages of completion.
The details of these Plastic Parks are as under:

Jharkhand (Deoghar)
The work related to development of physical infrastructure is in progress.

Tamil Nadu (Thiruvallur)
The work related to development of physical infrastructure is in progress.

The work related to development of physical infrastructure is in progress.

Uttarakhand (Sitarganj)
The work related to development of physical infrastructure is in progress.

Chhattisgarh (Sarora)
The work related to development of physical infrastructure is in progress.
9.
Karnataka (Ganjimutt, Mangaluru)
The final approval has been recently accorded on 21.01.2022 and the work related to development of physical infrastructure is yet to start.
Further, one Plastic Park has been accorded “in-principle” approval for establishment at Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.
As far as the information regarding the details of the Plastic Manufacturers is concerned, is dynamic in nature as majority of the Plastic Manufacturing/Plastic Processing Units falls under informal sector of the economy.
(b) No application is pending from the State Government for setting up a Plastic Park in Maharashtra.
(c) The State Government/Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) implementing the respective Plastic Parks has to ensure that the units being set up in these Plastic Parks obtain necessary clearances and comply with statutory environmental norms.
(d) The various incentives in these Plastic Parks are provided by the implementing agency, i.e. the State Government or the SPV based on the policies of the respective State Government.
