(a) whether the Government have received any representations regarding a mid-term appraisal of the reforms process with a view to judging its overall impact on industry and trade due to disinvestment;

(a) Ministry of Finance has not received any specific representation regarding a mid-term appraisal of the reforms process with a view to judging its overall impact on industry and trade due to disinvestment. However, the economic reforms initiated in the last few years have had a favourable impact in terms of acceleration in overall growth of the economy, build-up of a comfortable foreign exchange reserves position, rate of inflation is under control and s ubstantial inflow of foreign capital. Appraisal of reforms is a continuing process and appropriate steps are taken as and when required to safeguard the interests of Indian trade and industry.
