(a) whether coat mining in Kathara Colliery and Washery and Swang Colliery and Washery in Kathara area of the Central Coalfields Ltd. in Jharkhand has depleted water ieve! in the villages in proximity of coal mining areas to very low;
(b) if so, the arrangements being made by the Government for providing water to the residents of the area; and
(c) the reasons, if any, for delay in providing water to the residents of said area?

(a) As reported by Coat India Limited, water level in proximity of Kathara Colliery and Swang colliery has
not depleted due to mining operations. There is no village in proximity of Swang colliery opencast workings.
(b) Water to Jhirkey village in proximity of Kathara colliery is being supplied through pump and pipe line
on regular basis round the year.
(c) Does not arise in view of reply given to part (b) above.
