(a) whether the Government have formulated any scheme during the Ninth Five Year Plan to deepen the river beds to increase the capacity of rivers beds to increase the capacity of rivers to check soil erosion and arrest the decline in the water table;
(b) if so, the names of the rivers selected for the purpose; and
(c) the salient features of the scheme and the total amount
incurred on it as on December, 2000?
