Question : PONNANI FISHING HARBOUR

to the reply given to Unstarred Question No.1989 on 8th March, 2000 and state:

(a) whether the technical examination of the project report for Ponnani Fishing Harbour in Kerala referred to the Central Institute of Coastal Engineering for Fishery, Bangalore, has been completed and report received;

(b) if so, the details of the results of technical examinations;

(c) if not, the time by which the technical examination report is likely to be expected;

(d) whether the sanction process for this long pending project would be expedited; and

(e) if so, the steps taken in this direction?

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE (DR DEBENDRA PRADHAN)

(a) & (b): No, Sir. The Central Institute of Coastal Engineering for Fishery, Bangalore has requested additional technical details from the Government of Kerala for the main components of the Project pertaining to breakwater, quays, dredging and reclamation etc.

(c), (d) & (e): The Institute will expeditiously examine the techno-economic feasibility of the Project, on receipt of additional technical information required from the State Government.
