Question : Central University Status to Institutions

(a) whether the Government proposes to grant Central University status to
Sanskrit Vidyapiths including Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit
University and Institutions in the country;
(b) if so, the details there of along with the time by which the said proposal is
likely to be implemented;
(c) the number of institutes that would be benefitted by this proposal; and
(d) whether any institutions in the States of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are
included in the proposal, if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (d): There is a proposal under the consideration of the Government for
conversion of the three existing Deemed to be Universities namely,
Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Delhi, Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha,
Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh and Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Rashtriya
Sanskrit Vidyapeetha, New Delhi into Central Universities for Sanskrit
which is presently under inter-ministerial consultations stage.
