Question : DDUGJY

(a) whether the Government proposes to provide ‘24x7 Power for All’ under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) and if so, the details thereof, State/UT-wise;

(b) whether the Government of Jharkhand has submitted any proposal under DDUGJY and if so, the details thereof and the funds approved and released for the purpose so far;

(c) the number of districts included under DDUGJY in Jharkhand;

(d) whether electricity connections have been provided in villages under the scheme; and

(e) if so, the number of connections provided, so far, and the time by which the remaining connections would be provided?

(a) : Government of India have taken a joint initiative with all the States/UTs for preparation of State specific documents for providing 24x7 power supply to all households, industrial & commercial consumers and adequate supply of power to agricultural consumers. All the State Governments and Union Territories have signed the “24X7 Power For All” document. Government of India supplements the efforts of State through its various schemes including Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) and Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS).

(b) & (c) : Based on Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) submitted by Government of Jharkhand, techno-economical appraisal, overall availability of funds and priority of works, 406 projects have been sanctioned for Jharkhand covering all 24 districts, with the project cost of Rs.3918.33 crore. Under the scheme, a grant of Rs.240.64 crore has been released to Jharkhand, as on 30.11.2017.

(d) & (e) : Under DDUGJY, free service connection is provided to Below Poverty Line (BPL) households. As reported by the States, free electricity connections to 277.20 lakh BPL households including 12.85 lakh in Jharkhand have been released across the country under the scheme upto 30.11.2017. Under the Saubhagya scheme, all remaining un-electrified households are targeted to be electrified by March, 2019.
