Question : FODDER DEVELOPMENT WORKS



(a) whether any scheme is being run by the Government for the livelihood through integrated forest and fodder development works in the country specially in Madhya Pradesh;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government of Madhya Pradesh has sent any proposal in this regard; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and the reaction of the Union Government thereto?

(a)to(d): Under a Central Sector Scheme, the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Government of India through its Regional Fodder Stations is assisting the States for strengthening of their fodder development programmes. Besides, under Central Minikit Programme, quality fodder seeds are supplied to the State Governments for onward distribution to the farmers free of cost. During the current year, 13,430 numbers of fodder seed minikits have been provided to the Government of Madhya Pradesh for kharif, 2004.

Further, a National Afforestation Programme Scheme is being implemented on a 100% central funding basis by Ministry of Environment & Forests. This scheme is being implemented through the decentralized set up of the forest development agencies (FDAs) at the forest division level and Joint Forest Management Committees (JFMCs) at the village level. Pasture Development/Silvipasture is one of the components of the scheme. In Madhya Pradesh, 30 FDA projects have been sanctioned with a total outlay of Rs.88.06 crores upto 10th Plan so far an amount of Rs.38.65 crores has been released till date for all components of the scheme including Pasture Development component.
