(a) : Yes Sir.
(b) : Proposals received by ITPO from the various State Governments and the locations
suggested are given in the annexure.
( c ) & (d) : In order to strengthen the export promotion infrastructure in selected regional
centres of the country, ITPO is in the process of establishing Regional Trade Promotion
Centres (RTPCs) on the lines of Pragati Maidan at New Delhi. Memorandum of understanding have
been signed between ITPO and the State Governments of Tamilnadu, Karnataka and West Bengal for
setting up of RTPCs in Chennai, Bangalore and Calcutta. The Centre at Chennai (Tamilnadu) is
likely to be commissioned in January, 2001. The construction work at Bangalore (Karnataka)
has already started. Work at Kalikapur, Calcutta has not started due to litigation over the
plot identified for the RTPC by the State Government.
No decision has so far been taken in respect of other proposals.
