Question : Anti CAA Protests Cases

(a) the number of cases registered against Anti-CAA protesters across the country, State/UT-wise;

(b) the number of persons against whom section124-A (sedition) of the IPC is invoked;

(c) the number of persons booked under UAPA and other anti-terror laws;

(d) the number of foreign nationals who were asked to leave because they participated in anti-CAA protests; and

(e) the number of cases registered against the minors?

a), to (e) ‘Public Order'' and ''Police'' are State subjects as per Seventh Schedule to the Constitution of India. State Government concerned is responsible for maintenance of law and order in the State and to take action against the law breakers. The Central Government monitors the law and order situation in the States and assists the State Governments in case of major law and order problem by deploying Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) on the request of State Governments.

As reported by the Bureau of Immigration (BOI), 5 foreign nationals who violated visa norms by participating in the anti-CAA protests were asked to leave India.
