Question : Evaluation of CBSE Papers

(a) whether the Government has taken note of serious mistakes committed by the
evaluators in evaluation of exam papers of CBSE;
(b) if so, the details thereof and the corrective action proposed in this regard
indicating the number of cases reported during the last three years;
(c) whether such cases have also been reported from Gujarat;
(d) if so, the details thereof and the steps taken to compensate the students affected
by this wrong evaluation; and
(e) theremedial measures taken/being taken by the Government to check
recurrence of such cases in future?

(a) and (b): The Central Board of Secondary Education has informed that there are
many manual activities involved in the evaluation process of the Class X & Class XII
examination and thus, there are probability of mistakes. A system has been put in place
in which an opportunity is given to the students to apply to the CBSE to rectify mistake,
if any. The guilty teachers are identified and show causenoticesissued to them. The
number of cases reported during the last three years aretabulated below:

In cases where marks are increased or decreased, a fresh marks statement shall
be issued to such candidates after surrendering the old Marks Statement by the
candidate(s) concerned.
(e): The Board has taken series of tough measures in disciplining the schools and
other associated functionaries including use of technology and it is expected that
systemic improvement aimed at quality evaluation in more transparent manner will
reduce recurrence of such cases in future.
