(a) whether there is a huge gap between installed capacity and actual production in the cement industry in the country;

(b) if so, the reasons therefor;

(c) the details of the installed capacity and actual production of cement in the country during the last three years;

(d) whether there has been a continuous decline in the demand for cement in the country during the last three years; and

(a) to (c): Cement Industry has been de-controlled in 1989 and de-licensed in 1991 under the policy of economic liberalization. Decisions of installation of new plants are taken by the industry based on market demand. The details of installed capacity and cement production during the last three years are as follows:
