Question : RE-ORIENTATION OF VOCATIONAL EDUCATION



(a) whether the Government has stressed on re-orienting vocational education;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the funds allocated for this purpose to rural areas as compared to urban areas during the Eleventh Five year Plan, State-wise and year-wise?

(a) & (b): Yes Sir. Under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Vocationalisation of Secondary Education, about 150 vocational courses are offered at the higher secondary level. The courses are redesigned from time to time to make them need based and to improve employability of the students.

(c): There is an allocation of Rs. 2000 crore for the scheme during the 11th Five Year Plan. Funds are not separately allocated for rural and urban areas.
