Question : NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR CHILD PROTECTION



(a) the names of the organizations functioning under the auspices of National Institute for child protection to ensure the rights to children and inculcate proper values in them;

(b) whether National Institute of Social Defence (NISD) and Childline-India foundation have done a tremendous work in this direction; and

(c) if so, the details of the financial assistance provided by the Government to these Institutes during the last three years?

(a) There is no Institute by the name of National Institute for Child Protection. Hence reply to (a) is `Nil`. However, the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment has recently launched a campaign known as National Initiative for child Protection (NICP) through National Institute of Social Defence (NISD) and Child Line India Foundation (CIF). NICP aims at building partnership with the Allied Systems such as the police, the health care system, the judicial system, the juvenile justice system, the education system the transport system, the labour department, the media, the department of telecommunications, the corporate sector, elected representatives and all of us.

(b) Yes, Sir. NICP is being implemented through National Institute of Social Defence and child line India Foundation.

(c) NISD is a subordinate office of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and the budget allocated to it for the last three years are as follows:-

As regards Child line India Foundation, a grant-in-aid of Rs. 10.39 lakhs was released to it for administrative expenditure during the year 1999-2000, the first year of its existence.
