Question : MODERNISATION AND DIGITALISATION OF AIR AND DOORDARSHAN KENDRAS



(a) whether the Government has any proposal for modernisation and digitalization of AIR/Doordarshan Kendras in the country, particularly in Maharashtra during the Tenth Plan;

(b) if so, the details alongwith locations thereof, State-wise; and

(c) the time by which the modernisation/digitalisation work of the said centres is likely to be completed?

(a), (b) & (c) : Yes, Sir. The details are given in the Annexure. The schemes are expected to be completed during the 10th Plan, subject to availability of resources and approval of the competent authority.

ALL INDIA RADIO

The schemes for Modernisation and Digitalisation during the 10th Plan are as follows :
1. Provision of Digital Satellite News Gathering System at Zonal Headquarter.

2. Provision of portable MSS terminals for News Gathering at Major Stations.

3. Provision of Digital uplinks at new State capitals.

4. Upgradation of existing satellite uplinks at State capitals.

5. Replacement of old transmitters, studio equipments and studio transmitter link by digital equipments.
In Maharashtra, the following schemes have been proposed :
1. MSS terminal at Mumbai

2. Digital Satellite News Gathering System and upgradation of satellite uplinks at Mumbai

3. Replacement of 1 KW MW transmitter at Aurangabad by 10 KW FM transmitter.

4. Replacement of 6 KW FM transmitter at Nagpur by 10 KW FM transmitter

5. Replacement of 6 KW FM transmitter at Pune by 10 KW FM transmitter. 6. Replacement of 10 KW FM and 5 KW FM transmitter at Mumbai by 20 KW FM transmitter.
