Question : Increase in Productivity of Dairy Animals

(a) whether agriculture is the back bone of the rural economy of the country and dairying system plays an important role in it, if so, whether there is a need to increase productivity of dairy animals to meet the increased demand of milk;

(b) the extent to which the demand of milk and milk products is met indigenously and from import;

(c) whether there is a need to put concerted efforts in providing good quality feed and mineral mixture and in promoting different variants of compound cattle feed for different categories of animals;

(d) whether there is a need to have qualified trained manpower, efficient plants and machinery and technical expertise to produce right type of feeds; and

(e) if so, whether the Government is considering to provide assistance to train manpower, install efficient plants and machinery and impart technical expertise to produce right type of feeds and if so, the details thereof?

(a)&(b) Yes, Madam. In order to increase milk production and productivity to meet growing demand of milk, Government of India is implementing the followi(a) whether agriculture is the back bone of the rural economy of the country and dairying system plays an important role in it, if so, whether there is a need to increase productivity of dairy animals to meet the increased demand of milk;
(b) the extent to which the demand of milk and milk products is met indigenously and from import;
(c) whether there is a need to put concerted efforts in providing good quality feed and mineral mixture and in promoting different variants of compound cattle feed for different categories of animals;
(d) whether there is a need to have qualified trained manpower, efficient plants and machinery and technical expertise to produce right type of feeds; and
(e) if so, whether the Government is considering to provide assistance to train manpower, install efficient plants and machinery and impart technical expertise to produce right type of feeds and if so, the details thereof?
ng programmes: a) National Programme for Bovine Breeding and Dairy Development; b) Rashtriya Gokul Mission; c) National Dairy Plan-I and d) National Mission on Bovine Productivity . The milk production in the country during 2015-16 is 155.50 million tonnes and is sufficient to meet the demand. However, about 51420.31 tonnes of high ended milk and milk products have been imported during 2015-16.

(c)to(e) Assistance is provided by Government of India to train manpower, install efficient plants and machinery and impart technical expertise to produce right type of feeds under the following schemes: a) National Programme for Bovine Breeding and Dairy Development; b) Rashtriya Gokul Mission; c) National Dairy Plan-I; d) National Mission on Bovine Productivity; e) Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme; f) National Livestock Mission and g) Livestock Health and Disease Control.
