(a)&(b) One of the objectives of the Sub Mission of the Green India Mission in Government of India is to increase forest cover in Non-forest lands including roadsides and along canals. An area of 0.6 million hectare has been targeted in the entire country for plantation along the roads, canals, on other institutional lands and public spaces during the Mission period .
(c) State Governments have been asked to prepare and submit their Perspective Plans detailing the activities to be undertaken in the identified landscapes under the Green India Mission. This includes activities to be identified under Agro-Forestry and Social-Forestry with the objective of forestry in the non-forest lands including plantation of trees along the roads.
So far Governments of Andhra Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh. Karnataka, Maharashtra, Nagaland, Punjab Tamil Nadu and Odisha have submitted their Perspective Plans.
