Question : Joint Action Plan against Terrorism

(a) whether the Government has taken or is considering to take any steps to formulate a joint action plan to put a check on global terrorism affecting India, Russia, United States of America and other countries;

(b) if so, the details thereof as on date; and

(c) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) and (b) : The United Nations Global Counter Terrorism Strategy was adopted by the Members States on 08.09.2006, this Strategy is in the form of a resolution and has an annexed Action Plan. The Global Counter Terrorism Forum (GCTF) serves as a mechanism for furthering the implementation of the UN Global Counter terrorism strategy and

complements and reinforces existing multilateral counter terrorism efforts. India is one of the founding members of GCTF, which has 30 members, including United States of America and Russia. Besides, India has also established Joint Working Groups on Counter Terrorism with 25 countries and with BIMSTEC, BRICS and EU. Meetings of these Joint Working Groups are convened from time to time to discuss counter terrorism issues and to share intelligence, experience, expertise, good practices and issues of mutual concern.
