(a) whether the Government are providing financial as well as technical assistance to
the farmers of the country particularly in Rajasthan to boost the cultivation of a medicinal
plant `Sena` found in the State;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the name of the disease for the treatment of which the plant `Sena` is used?

(a)&(b): The Department of Agriculture and Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture is
implementing a Centrally Sponsored Scheme on Macro Management in Agriculture
Supplementation / Complementation of State Efforts though Work Plan in all the States
and Union Territories including Rajasthan. The Scheme provides assistance to the
farmers for production and technical assistance through training for medicinal & aromatic
plants including `Sena`.
Ministry of Science & Technology has sanctioned a project entitled `Cultivation of
Medicinal Plants using biotechnological approaches for the benefit of SC/ST population of
the society`. Under this project farmers were trained on agro technology of Sena
cultivation in various villages around Jodhpur (Rajasthan).
(c): Sena is used as Laxative and Purgative.
