(a) whether the Government has taken any initiative for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Egg Laying Hens) Rules, 2019 because there are some sorrowful state of the unregulated poultry industry using battery cages through Section 11(1)(e) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 prohibits the confinement of any animal in a receptacle cage crowded with 8 to 10birds in each cage; and
(b) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons there for, State and UT-wise ?

(a) & (b) As per the direction of Hon’ble High Court of Delhi, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Ministry of Fisheries and Animal Husbandry has notified the draft Prevention of Cruelty to Animal (Egg Laying Hens) Rules, 2019 seeking public comments. After receipt of public comments, the final rule has been submitted to the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi for their approval before final notification. Once the rule is notified, this will take care of the cruelty to egg laying hens.
