Question : TRUCK TERMINALS



(a) whether any proposal is under the consideration of the Government to build truck terminals along National Highways for providing truck/lorry drivers rest rooms, dormitories, fuel filling stations, restaurants or other facilities; and

(b) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b) Ministry has a policy for facilitating development of wayside amenities also called rest areas along National Highways which include parking space for vehicles, snack bar/restaurant, toilets, dormitory for short duration rest, first aid, telephone booth, petrol pump/minor repair shop (optional) kiosks for sale of miscellaneous/sundry items and landscaping, truck/bus lay-bye as per the requirements. In addition truck/bus lay-bye are being provided at appropriate places for parking of trucks/buses. The wayside amenities are provided at selected locations along the National Highways.
