MINISTER OF STATE FOR RURAL DEVELOPMENT
(SHRI RAM KRIPAL YADAV)
(a) to (f): The Department of Land Resources has sanctioned 8214 watershed development projects in 28 States including Maharashtra covering an area of about 39.07 million hectare under the Watershed Development Component of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (WDC-PMKSY) principally for development of rainfed portions of net cultivated area and culturable wastelands (since 2009-10 to 2014-15). The projects are at various stages of implementation. At present Department of Land Resources does not propose to sanction further watershed development projects; priority is being given to qualitative and time bound completion of the on-going sanctioned projects.
The State-wise details of project sanctioned, area covered, total project cost and funds released as Central share under the programme including Maharashtra are given in Annexure I. Under this programme, States submit proposals for release of funds following due procedures as per the guidelines applicable, based on which Department of Land Resources releases funds to State Governments. Based on the proposals received from States, Rs. 1471.72 crore has been released as Central share to State Governments during 2016-17. The State-wise details are given in Annexure II.
