Question : TARIFF STRUCTURE



(a) whether Telecom. Regulatory Authority of India has recently fixed pulse rate for day and night after preparing tariff on the basis of distance for telecom services of the entire country;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the pulse rate of 30 seconds is available after 60 seconds for the subscribers of Bharat Sanchar Nigam for making a call between 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. upto a distance of 50 Kms to 200 Kms.;

(d) if so, the action proposed to be taken by the Government in this regard; and

(e) the details of present tariff structure?

(a) No, Sir. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has not fixed pulse rate for day and night time separately for different distance slabs. The TRAI had fixed the ceiling pulse rate for the peak hours not exceeding 11 hours a day. The tariff for off peak hours is left to Service Providers to decide.

(b) Does not arise in view of (a) above.

(c) Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has fixed pulse rate of 30 seconds for the peak (0900-2000 hours) on week days for Inter Circle calls for the distance slab of 50 Kms. to 200 Kms.

(d) Does not arise in view of (c) above.

(e) The details of present tariff structure of BSNL for inter- Circle STD calls are given in the annexure.
