(a) whether the Government proposes to give much focus to roll out new Science institutes in various States in the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor; and
(c) the number of various science institutes located in the country?

(a) to (c): The Ministry of Human Resource Development has established an Indian Institute of Science (IISc) at Bangalore (Karnataka) and five Indian Institutes of Science Education & Research (IISERs) at Pune (Maharashtra), Kolkata (West Bengal), Mohali (Punjab), Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) and Thiru-vananthapuram (Kerala). Further, IISER Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh) has started functioning in 2015-16 and IISER Berhampur (Odisha) is scheduled to start its academic session in 2016-17.
