Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF PARLIAMENTARY AFFAIRS AND MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF URBAN DEVELOPMENT & POVERTY ALLEVIATION ( SHRI O. RAJAGOPAL )

(a): Digitek PTS System was purchased for Nashik Press in September, 1988 through DGS&D. the system was not obsolete but was of new technology when it was purchased.

(b): Information about capacity utilization could not be provided to the audit team, because the assessed capacity for such auxiliary machines is not fixed in the Presses. Only in respect of main printing machines the Assessed capacity is fixed and capacity utilization checked. Production data has however, been provided to the audit on 7.8.2001. No further comments have so far been received from the audit.

(c): In view of reply to (b) above, the question does not arise.
