(a) As per the data available from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), the State/UT-wise
data on the total number of police personnel killed or injured on duty in the year 2011 is given
in the statement at Annexure. The data for the year 2012 is not available.
(b) “Police†being a State subject as per VII Schedule to the Constitution of India, it is for
the concerned State/UT Governments to consider compensation and alternative employment to the
families of such police personnel.
