Question : Schools on Public Land


Will the Minister of URBAN DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government has taken note of several schools operating on public land and green belt areas in Delhi;

(b) if so, the reaction of the Government thereon; and

(c) the corrective action taken in the matter during each of the last three years and the current year, school-wise?

STATEMENT

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO.159 FOR 09.12.2015 REGARDING SCHOOLS ON PUBLIC LAND.

(a) to (c) : Delhi Development Authority has informed that four private schools are operating unauthorisedly on DDA lands. The school-wise status is as under:
i. Kathuria Public School: DDA has been given deemed possession of the encroached land with effect from 30.04.2013 in compliance of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India’s order dated 09.12.2011. The school has been permitted to continue by the Competent Authority till the end of the current academic session, i.e. April, 2016.

ii. School run by Adarsh Vidya Mandir Education Society in village Garhi Jharia-Maria: The matter is under litigation in the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi and action to remove the unauthorized construction could not be taken in view of the stay orders of the Hon’ble High Court.

iii. Shemrock Play School in Ali Ganj: Eviction order had been passed but action could not be taken due to stay order granted by the District Court, Saket, New Delhi against that order.

iv. Defence Public School (Charity) in village Mahipalpur: This has come to the notice of DDA, which surveys the entire area before taking view on demolition.
