Question : CGHS Wellness Centres

(a) the details of the criteria fixed for selection of cities for setting up dispensaries/centres under the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS);
(b) the details of cities where CGHS wellness centres have been established during the last three years, particularly in Maharashtra;
(c) the number of beneficiaries including serving employees and pensioners likely to be benefitted from the same;
(d) whether the Government proposes to establish more CGHS complete wellness centres in the country, if so, the details thereof, State/UT-wise including Maharashtra;
(e) whether the Government proposes to establish wellness centres in Wasim, Yavatmal, Parbhani and Osmanabad cities of Maharashtra; and
(f) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (f): As per extant norms, CGHS wellness centre is opened in a new city if there are at least 6000 card holders residing therein and also subject to availability of resources under the scheme.

During last three years, new CGHS Wellness Centres were established at Kochi Baghpat, Sonepat, Gwalior, Kannur and Kozhikode. First Aid Posts are upgraded to Wellness Centres at Wadi in Nagpur and Ishapore (Ichhapore) in Kolkata. Existing Postal Dispensaries were taken over by CGHS at the following Locations:

Agra, Ajmer, Aligarh, Ambala, Amritsar, Bareilly, Behrampur, Chappra, Cuttack, Darbhanga, Dhanbad, Dibrugarh, Gaya, Gorakhpur, Guntur, Jallandhar ,Jalpaiguri, Jodhpur, Kota, Moradabad, Muzzafarupur, Nellore, Raipur, Rajamundri, Saharanpur, Silchar, Siliguri, Tirunelveli, Tiruchirapalli, Vadodra, Varanasi,Vijaywada and Visakhapatnam.

Opening of new CGHS wellness centres is approved at

Itanagar (Arunchal Pradesh), Chandigarh (2nd WC), Delhi, Panchkula (Haryana), Mysuru (Karnataka), Nasik, Aurangabad and Chandrapur (Maharashtra), Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu and 2 Wellness Centres in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.

Presently, there is no such proposal to establish Wellness Centres in Wasim, Yavatmal, Parbhani and Osmanabad cities of Maharashtra. Opening of new wellness centres is subject to fulfilment of norms and availability of resources including creation of posts with the approval of Ministry of Finance.
