Question : POLY HOUSE CULTIVATION

(a) whether the Government has decided to start poly house cultivation scheme in various States to control the prices of onion and tomatoes and make green vegetables available through new technique in each season in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof, State-wise;

(c) whether the first phase of the said scheme is likely to be started in States like Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh etc. and 300 poly houses units are to be set up as per the scheme;

(d) if so, the details thereof;

(e) whether the Government proposes to start the said scheme through the involvement of corporate sector and non-government organisations; and

(f) if so, the details thereof along with the financial assistance provided by the Government to various States for the purpose?

(a) & (b): Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) is being implemented in all states/UTs during XII Plan and provides assistance for protected cultivation through Green House Structures/poly houses. State wise area covered under protected cultivation, during 2013-14 is at Annexure – I.

(c) to (e): Protected cultivation is being implemented under MIDH in states including Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, during XII Plan. Under MIDH, both Naturally Ventilated Polyhouses and Polyhouses with Fan & Pad systems are promoted for an area upto 4000sq m for which 50% financial assistance is provided to beneficiaries.

(f): Details of funds released to states for protected cultivation, during 2013-14 is given at Annexure-II.
