Question : DPRs under Bharatmala Pariyojana

(a) whether the Union Government has prepared Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for logistic efficiency enhancement programme under Bharatmala Pariyojana to enhance the freight transportation in India through improving cost, time, tracking and transferability of consignments, if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether the Union Government has appointed consultants to carry out critical examination of existing logistic infrastructure and destination of freight movement in the country, if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Union Government has identified freight corridors (Economic Corridors), Inter corridors and feeder routes to reduce cost and time of freight movement, if so, the details thereof;

(d) whether the Union Government has decided to use latest technologies such as LiDAR, Satellite mapping and Ground Penetration Radar (GPR) in preparation of DPRs to drastically reduce the time taken for conducting surveys; and

(e) if so, the steps taken by the Union Government to use latest technologies?

(a) to (c) A consultant has been appointed under the World Bank Technical Assistance program for a study on Logistics Efficiency Enhancement Program (LEEP). The study has identified Economic Corridors, Inter Corridors and Feeder Routes under Logistic Efficiency Enhancement Program which is to be developed under Bharatmala Pariyojana. Details of corridor are as below:

Economic Corridor : 44 Nos.
Inter Corridor : 65 Nos.
Feeder Routes : 115 Nos.


(d) and (e) Yes Madam, Government has issued guidelines for use of Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) technology to bring more accuracy and speed in preparation of feasibility/DPR works to ensure timely decision on alignments, design and accurate delivery of Highway projects.
