(a) whether the Government have received any proposal from foreign investors for construction of roads in the country;
(b) if so, the details of proposals received from January 1, 1996 to April 30, 2000, country-wise and;
(c) the action taken and the response of the Government in this regard?

(a) to (c) Four proposals for foreign investment have been received.
Their details are as follows:-
1. Malaysia : Tada-Nallore section of NH-5 in Andhra Pradesh.
2. -do- : Vijaywada-Nandigam section of NH-9 in Andhra Pradesh.
3. -do- : Nellore bypass in Andhra Pradesh.
4. USA & Hongkong : Second Vivekanand bridge in West Bengal.
Proposal at S.No. 3 is approved. Others are at various stages of negotiations.
