(a) the number of central universities set up in different States;
(b) whether the Government have a proposal to set up any new central university in the academic year 2022-23;
(c) if so, the details thereof;
(d) whether any new central university is proposed to be set up in the district of Sundargarh in Odisha; and
(e) if so, the details thereof and the steps taken/proposed to be taken by the Government in this direction?

(a) to (e) : 47 Central Universities under the purview of Ministry of Education have been set up in different States/UTs. Setting of up a Central University is a continuous process. Recently, the Government of India has established one Central University and one Tribal University in Andhra Pradesh. Besides, a new Central University namely Sindhu Central University has been established in Ladakh. There is already a Central University in the State of Odisha namely Central University of Odisha. However, at present, there is no proposal under consideration in the Ministry of Education for setting up of a Central University in Odisha.
