Question : FOREST VILLAGES



(a) whether the Union Government has any mechanism to monitor the proper implementation of programmes for development of forest villages;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the amount spent in this regard during each of the last three years, State-wise?

(a): Yes, Sir.

(b): The Tribal Development/ Welfare Department of the State Government is to monitor the progress of the implementation of projects for the development of forest villages carried out by Forest Development Agencies (FDAs). The FDAs through the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests of the concerned State have to furnish the progress report to The Tribal Development/ Welfare Department of the State Government for onward submission to Ministry of Environment & Forests and Ministry of Tribal Affairs. Utilization of funds is monitored through submission of the utilization certificates.

(c): State-wise amount spent during each of the last three years are given in Annexure-I.
