(a) whether the Government proposes to formulate a scheme to strictly telecast/broadcast advertisements, documentaries, stories and motivational episodes related to population explosion and its likely ill-effects on private channels and radio including Doordarshan;
(b) if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the time by which the said scheme is likely to be formalised?

(a) to (c): Doordarshan does stories and discussion programmes relating to population growth.
All India Radio (AIR) has a dedicated Family Welfare Unit with branches at all Capital and Regional entities looking after programmes related to various aspects of family welfare including
ill-effects of population explosion. AIR regularly broadcasts programmes which promote small family norms highlighting inter alia, significance of controlling population. Documentaries, success stories, family serials, talks, discussions and Phone-in programmes related with increase in population form a part of special audience programmes for women, rural youth and industrial workers, etc. at all AIR stations in the country.
