Question : Distribution of Tricycles and Equipments to Differently Abled Persons

(a) whether the Government has any scheme for distribution of petrol tri-scooter to differently abled persons as an alternative of motorized tricycle;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) if not, the views of the Government in this regard; and

(d) the details of the funds allocated and utilized along with the number of beneficiaries under the motorized tricycle distribution scheme during the last three years and the current year, State/UT-wise?

(a) to (c) No, Sir. Under Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase/Fitting of Aids and Appliances (ADIP) Scheme, there is provision for Motorized tricycles and wheelchairs for severely disabled and for Quadriplegic, persons suffering from Muscular Dystrophy, Stroke, Cerebral Palsy, Hemipeligia and any other person with similar conditions, where either three/four limbs or one half of the body are severely impaired. Extent of subsidy admissible under the Scheme is 25000/-. The subsidy is provided to persons aged 16 years and above, once in ten years.

At present, distribution of petrol tri-scooter to differently abled persons as an alternative of motorized tricycle is not under consideration of the Government.

(d) State/UT-wise funds utilized along with the number of beneficiaries provided Motorized tricycles under ADIP Scheme during the last three years and the current year are as per Annexure.
