(a) whether entrance examinations to premier Central
Government educational institutions are conducted in English
language only;
(b) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor; and
(c) the measures taken by the Government to include other
languages in the entrance examinations to enable students
from rural areas of the country to get admission in the
premier educational institutions?

(a) to (c): The details of medium of various Entrance
Examinations conducted by the Ministry of Human Resource
Development for admission to premier Government educational
institutions are:
(i) All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE)
(ii) All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Entrance Examination
(AIPMT) and
(iii) Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) are conducted
in English and Hindi.
# As far as the medium of entrance exams for admission to
various colleges affiliated with different universities is
concerned, the same is decided by the respective
universities in exercise of their autonomy vested with them
under the Acts/ Statutes/ Ordinances, under which they are
constituted.
# Common Admission Test (CAT) is conducted jointly by
Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) for admission to Post
Graduate Programme (PGP). The examination is conducted in
English as the medium of instruction for the PGP is English.
