Question : CGHS dispensaries in rented buildings

(a) the details of steps taken to strengthen public health system and related infrastructure in the country;
(b) the number of Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) dispensaries presently housed in rented building across the country;
(c) the time by when such CGHS dispensaries are likely to be shifted to Government buildings; and
(d) whether there is any scheme to construct CGHS building in each district of the country, if so, the details thereof along with the time by when it is likely to be implemented?

(a) to (d) : Public Health is a state subject & the primary responsibility to strengthen public health system and related infrastructure rests with the States. Government of India provides necessary financial and technical support to States/ UTs under various health programs/ schemes.
Presently, 118 CGHS Wellness Centres are functioning in private rented buildings across the country. Buildings for CGHS Wellness Centre(s) at Rohini Sector-16, Alaknanda (Kalkaji), VasantVihar, Prasad Nagar, SaritaVihar and MayurVihar (all Delhi) and Avadi, Tamil Nadu are approved.
