Question : WORKING GROUP ON AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION



(a) whether the Government has set up a Working Group to submit its report on Agricultural Production;

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the recommendations of the Working Group; and

(c) the follow-up action taken by the Government in this regard?

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE AND FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES (SHRI TARIQ ANWAR)

(a) to (c): Government had set up a Working Group on Agriculture Production under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Chief Minister, Haryana in the year 2010. The Working Group made wide ranging recommendations which include, inter-alia, measures to improve yield; expand winter rice cultivation in Eastern India; electric power availability; water control; improved hybrid seeds; seeds replacement rate; fertilizer use; agri-business; private sector investment; marketing; insurance and other related areas.

Government decided to implement the various recommendations of the Working Group. As the recommendations concern various Central Ministries/ Departments of the Government of India, the same were circulated to them for further necessary action. The recommendations are at various stages of implementation. The Department of Agriculture & Cooperation is monitoring the implementation of these recommendations.
