(a) whether the Government has taken any action towards
establishing a sports university in Manipur as announced earlier;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the Government is contemplating on setting up a
Sports University in Thane, Maharashtra; and
(d) if so, the details thereof along with the time by which it is
likely to be set up?

(a) & (b) Decision has been taken by the Government to set up
National Sports University in Manipur. In pursuance, 336.93 acres
of land has been acquired by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and
Sports at 44-Yaithibi Khunou, Thoubal District of Manipur for the
Sports University. Project Management Consultant has been
appointed after following due process The University is being set
up under an Act of Parliament.
( c ) & (d) No such proposal is under consideration.
