Answer given by the minister

THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR POWER, COAL, NEW AND RENEWABLE ENERGY & MINES (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) (SHRI PIYUSH GOYAL)
(a) and (b): The National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC) has not set any targets for share of renewable energy in the total power generation in the country. However, it has suggested that, starting 2009-10, the national renewables standard may be set at 5 percent of total purchase of grid electricity, to increase by 1 percent each year for the next 10 years.
(c): As per Central Electricity Authority’s estimates, the share of renewable power, including small hydro upto 25 MW capacity in total electricity mix in 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17 (April to October 2016), were 5.56% 5.92%, 5.97% and 6.98% respectively.
